It’s that time of year again! Homebrew competitions are starting to heat up. Just this week, I posted about the Lonerider “Brew it Forward” competition in Raleigh. Now it’s time to start thinking about the mother of all homebrew competitions, the American Homebrewers Association National Homebrew Competition 2012.
This is the world’s largest international beer competition. They are accepting entries for all BJCP-recognized categories, including mead and cider. The first round will be held at 10 different judging locations across the country and the final round will take place at the AHA National Homebrewers Conference. NHC winners receive gold, silver or bronze medals in 28 style categories.
Online Registration: Begins mid-February 2012
Entry Shipping: March 19-28, 2012
First Round: March 30-April 22, 2012
First Round Results: May 4, 2012
This is an AHA/BJCP Sanctioned event, and all entries will receive a score card from accredited judges. All submitted entries will be judged using BJCP score sheets and the 2008 version of the BJCP Style Guidelines. Read up on the reasons to enter a competition and get feedback on your brew.
