Front Street Brewery in Wilmington is again hosting the Lower Cape Fear Homebrewers’ Competition, so it’s time to get brewing and see if your homebrew could be the 2012 winner!
Drop-off: February 1st – 10th, 2012
Winner Announced: February 18th, 7:00 PM
Cost: $20 per entry (this covers your ticket and 1 guest for the party/awards ceremony on the 18th)
Location: Front St. Brewery, 9 N. Front St., Wilmington, NC
This is a best of show competition. It is not a BJCP event, but 1st, 2nd and 3rd place will be awarded for each category that is accepted. The Best in Show beer will be brewed and distributed locally by Front St. Brewery.
To enter, you must bring one 6-pack of brown, unmarked 12oz bottles to the brewery before February 10th. They are also accepting growlers and flip-top bottles, but it must be the equivalent of a 6-pack of homebrew. In fact, you could even drop off a keg, and they’ll hold on to it and return it for you. But you have to provide all of your own dispensing equipment. Personally, I’d suggest going the bottle route.
It seems like an expensive competition, but you do get two tickets to the awards ceremony and after-party at the brewery. It has been a successful event in the past and who knows, maybe you could see your beer on the shelves of all of the Wilmington hot spots.
